Customer Review: Exactly what I thought it would be
This was a security item. My friend bought a cabin in the woods, pretty remote, no streetlights. If someone was in the house & she clicked on the lantern, they would have time to go out the back door. Thereby avoiding a confrontation. We’ve been up there a couple of times & it works great. It has 3 settings, high, low, nightlight. The remote will keep rotating through the settings if you keep pushing the button. Of course, it IS fluorescent so the quality of light isn’t the greatest. It takes eight (8) DD batteries.
Customer Review: Great Product
This is a really great lantern. The remote control is really a nice feature, along with the night light. I use this lanter for camping, but it also is nice if you have any power outage at home. The lantern gives off a light that is comfortable for the eyes, and has different settings depending on the type of lighting you need. I have lights in my trailer, but I found that this was great for nighttime when I am in bed, and want some light, and can turn it off by the remote. The only drawback to this lantern is the weight, since it takes 6 D batteries, it is a little heavy, but should not be enought to keep anyone from purchasing this product. Buy it, you’ll be glad you did.

Customer Review: A suitable emergency light
The lantern is suitable as an emergency light or small camp or tent light. At the high power setting it provides illumination suitable for reading in a five foot radius; at the lower setting about three feet. The weight with batteries is about three pounds. Although not as sturdy as one with a metal casing, it can withstand moderate bumps, but dropping it is problematic with respect to internal damage.

Customer Review: Nice bright lantern
This is a pretty sweet lantern, especially for the price. The way it folds up is great and it produces some impressive light for quite a long time. My only complaints would be that the clear container has small lines in it that produce some patterns in the light and that because the glass is completely clear the light can often be too bright! It usually works best if you shield the light a bit or put it off to the side and use the indirect light.
Customer Review: Well Built LED Lantern
I recently bought this lantern in an effort to replace traditional fluorescent-tubed lanterns with more economical battery “friendly” LED variants. Overall, I have been very pleased so far with the Coleman LED pack-away lantern. The convenient pack away feature should make this a great lantern for camping and outdoor activities as well as storage. It feels sturdy and well-built, with a solid feel and a nice handle. The stated run time of 40 hours on low and 18 hours on high should make this a very economical long-lasting lantern which uses only 4-D batteries. The light’s output has a very nice color while not being too “white” as some other LED lanterns can be. Brightness at both the low and high settings are above average and certainly better than a 12 LED less expensive model I also use. My only gripe to this lantern is the “banding” of light, possibly due to the plastic globes construction/rails for the pack-away feature. This leaves some visible vertical banding/shadowing, however, the light spreads out much better overall than traditional LED lanterns with LED’s spaced in rows; which often creates a very narrow “band” of light with little spread above and below. Overall this should be an economical battery saving light that’s great for rooms during power outages or for camping/fishing. Aside from the banding (which you get used to after a while), I’ll be taking this and other LED type lights on our next fishing trip to save on the batteries.

We just went through a power failure due to icing in New England and this lantern provided an amazing amount of light in our ‘darkest hours’. I am using rechargable batteries in it and recommend it to anyone wanting a bright, relatively inexpensive power failure light. You can read by it or even have enough light to cook dinner. The new CREE LEDs are the key when shopping for a flashlight or lantern. I have a Coleman flashlight with the same technology bulb and it is like holding a searchlight when walking my dog along our dark country roads at night.
